Set in beautiful parkland, Rufford Abbey offers over 870 years of history, from its origins as a 12th century cistercian monastery to its period as a Jacobean era family home.

There is plenty to explore; with walks through the native woodlands, a lake and gardens plus a range of attractions, activities and places to relax and eat.

Park Favourites:

  • Adventure Play Area - Open daily 10am to 4pm. (Free to use) 
  • Gift shop - Open daily 10am to 4.00pm
  • Adventure Golf  - Open daily 10am to 4pm - last admission 3pm. Open all year round from our Adventure Play Area Catering Shed.
  • Archery - Closed for winter season (private party bookings for spring / summer can be arranged by Contacting Us)
  • Boating Lake  - Closed for winter season
  • Interactive walks - Always open
  • Coach House Cafe - Open daily from 10am - 4pm, subject to weather 
  • Mill Tea Shop - Open daily from 10am - 4pm, subject to weather
  • Adventure Play Area Catering Shed - Open daily 10:30am to 4pm, subject to weather
  • Ice Cream Parlour - Open Saturday & Sunday from 12pm - subject to weather
  • Pizza Van (Located in the Abbey courtyard) Open Saturday & Sunday 11:30am to 3pm, subject to weather
  • Orangery Plant Centre - Open daily from 10am to 5pm
  • Toilets - Toilets across the park are currently open from 10am to 4:00pm daily. 
Key information: 
  • Open every day except Christmas Day (Christmas Eve opening Hours 10am - 2pm) 
  • Free admission to park and abbey ruins (Access to the abbey ruins is closed until further notice)
  • Parking Charges - £5.00 per car (Payment by Card Only)
  • Pre Paid for Car Parking available at the Mill  Book Here!
  • £40 season ticket on sale here!
  • Car parks open 10.00am - 4.00pm (subject to the weather)
  • Dogs welcome on a lead
  • Lots of dining options available from our many pop up units 
  • Mobility scooter hire & free wheelchair loan (available from the Gift Shop)

  • Drones - At Rufford we do not allow the use of public drones for the safety and protection of our visitors. If you are a business looking to use a drone, you will need to put in writing a request prior to any use of drones to the Contracts Manager at Rufford Country Park at
  • Our changing places hoist is temporarility out of use, we apologise for any inconvenience caused  
  • We are commited to ensuring that our waste at Rufford is managed carefully.  All of our rubbish is taken to terminals were any recyclable waste is then sorted
