British Canoeing Courses

Canoe Leader Training

This is a three-day course unlike most providers we have added an extra day to enable us to provide focus on personal performance. We will provide assessment for the Personal performance awards to the candidate’s standard. A full day will be spent on river leadership skills and a day on open water journey skills.

Whitewater Kayak Leader Training

This is a three-day course unlike most providers we have added an extra day to enable us to provide focus on personal performance.

Advanced Canoe Award

A 5 day course based in North Wales where we will paddle some of the most iconic rivers and lakes that North Wales offers open canoeing.

As an advanced canoeist you will have extensive experience of ‘wilderness journeys’ of anything from a day trip to a multi-day expedition.

Canoe Core Coach Training

The Core Coach Training will explore different approaches to coaching, understanding and enabling learning, and some core coaching skills. 

Foundation Safety & Rescue Training

The British Canoeing Awarding Body Foundation Safety and Rescue Training course is intended for all paddlers, coaches and volunteers, irrespective of craft or discipline choice, and is available in either bank-based or boat-based options.

Paddlesport Instructor

The British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Instructor is an entry level point qualification.
The qualification will support the instructor with practical skills such as kitting up a group and getting afloat.

Progressive Canoe Award

A Progressive Canoe Award which endorses your ability to apply appropriate decision making skills for a safe day out canoeing on grade 2(3) rivers and large areas of open water.

Sheltered Water Canoe & kayak Training

This Discipline Specific Training focuses on HOW to coach the discipline specific skills and WHAT you will be coaching.
The training explores how to coach technical and tactical skills.

Touring Award

Your Touring Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making required to have a successful day on a river or estuary.

Whitewater Personal Progression

This White Water Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making to ensure a successful day on rivers up to grade 2.

Whitewater Rescue Technician - Pro 3

The Whitewater Rescue Technician - Professional course is designed for professional river users, eg raft guides, safety kayakers, with existing river experience.

Whitewater kayak Leadership Assessment

Our assessments are delivered in a friendly and supportive way.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding Discipline Specific

Understand the worldwide development of the sport and the role of the various bodies on the field including British Canoeing,  Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI), British Stand Up Paddleboard Association (BSUPA), Sport England and Adventure Activities Licencing Service (AALS).

Customer Experience

This endorsement is aimed at supporting and recognising the additional skills required when fulfilling a guiding role.  This module is aimed at British Canoeing Leaders wanting to expand their knowledge and experience in customer experience and putting them at the forefront of trips and journeys.

This endorsement is aimed at supporting and recognising the additional skills required when fulfilling a guiding role.

Stand Up Paddle Board - Whitewater

Your Stand Up Paddleboard White Water Award will give you the ability to apply your choices to a successful day on rivers of up to grade 2 and support you in the understanding and use of the fundamentals in SUP white water paddling.
